Defense infrastructure

Yugoimport-SDPR has extensive experience in the design of defense infrastructure and the transfer of defense technologies: 

  • Design, construction and equipping of defense overhaul facilities for land, air, and naval forces, together with the construction of complex defense infrastructure, such as storage facilities, depots, complete military bases for all armed services, hardened facilities, command and communication centers etc.
  • Design, construction and equipping of defense manufacturing facilities, including delivery of technical and process documentation, technical assistance, commissioning, personnel education and training.  

Throughout its history, including the period of its operation in the former Yugoslavia, military infrastructure projects and technology transfer accounted for approximately 50% of Yugoimport-SDPR’s total business activities. These projects were successfully executed in many countries, particularly across North Africa and the Middle East. 

Iraq has been one of Yugoimport-SDPR’s most important partners in this field. We are proud of our decades-long cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Iraq, in the field of design and construction of a broad range of infrastructural facilities in Iraq: Airbases 202B, 202C and 202D (Suweira), High Officers’ Club in Baghdad, and many other military bases and other defense and civilian infrastructure facilities (BAAS Party Headquarters in Baghdad), residential compounds and many other projects. 

It is particularly important to mention the state-of-the-art technologies and highest standards applied in the construction of hardened aircraft shelters, underground facilities, command centers etc. 

Furthermore, a number of major turnkey technology transfer projects were successfully implemented in Iraq, covering the production of propellants, explosives, various caliber ammunition, infantry weapons, artillery systems and other defense products.
