President Vucic Inspects Construction Works of Complex Combat Systems Plant
The President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vucic, today inspected the third phase of the construction works of Borbeni Slozeni Sistemi (Complex Combat Systems) plant, a subsidiary company of Yugoimport SDPR, near Kursumlija.
The activities were attended by Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilovic, Nenad Miloradovic, PhD, Acting Assistant Minister of Defence for Material Resources, Acting Director of Jugoimport-SDPR, Jugoslav Petkovic and Director of Borbeni složeni sistemi Ognjen Oliveric.
On this occasion, President Vucic stated that seven years ago there had been nothing at the site but a meadow, whereas now there is a factory where dedicated, hardworking people manufacture complex combat systems, contributing, through their work, to the strengthening of Serbian defence industry and the Serbian Armed Forces.
- We are expanding our capacities, building a new production facility, and creating additional employment opportunities. The further development of production will also enable us to manufacture our own wheeled armoured vehicles in Kursumlija. We have made a significant leap forward and will continue to increase production, to include some of the most advanced drones, because, in terms of quality, what we make is on a par with products manufactured by defence industries across the globe.
What is most important is that people now have jobs and are capable of supporting their families. I will work to ensure that a portion of the profits generated is invested in higher salaries for workers, while continuing to develop our defence industry and further strengthen the Serbian Armed Forces. I would like to thank all the employees for the immense effort and energy they are putting into this project – President Vucic said.
Speaking about the production that is to be carried out at this plant, President Vucic said that, during the initial period, the focus would be on Milosh 2 armoured vehicles, in line with the needs of the Serbian Armed Forces.
The area of the new production hall will be approximately 2,800 square metres and it will be used for machining of metal components and their assembly. The new facility will house two production lines for the assembly of armoured combat vehicles.
