Laying the foundation stone for new Machining Plant in Kuršumlija

The president of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić and Director of Jugoimport –SDPR J.P. Jugoslav Petković laid the foundation stone today for the construction of Kuršumlija Machining Plant - the defense industry plant "Complex Combat Systems", on the section Pljakovo-Mačkov put.

The ceremony was attended by Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin, Kuršumlija Mayor Radoljub Vidic, Secretary General of the President of Serbia Nikola Selakovic, Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Milan Mojsilovic, ministers in the Government of Serbia, and many other distinguished officials and numerous citizens.

The area of the factory complex is 9.97 ha, while the total area of the facilities will be 16,880.80 m².

The total investment value including machinery will be around 45 million euros. Construction works will be implemented in three phases:

Phase 1:
  • the total area of facilities 2.925,32 m²
  • planned construction period - 2019/2020
Phase 2:
  • the total area of facilities 10,244.91 m²
  • planned construction period - 2020/2021
Phase 3:
  • the total area of facilities 3,710.57 m²,
  • planned construction period - 2021/2022

The plant will manufacture hulls for combat vehicles "Milosh" and "Lazar", various parts for self-propelled gun-howitzer "Nora", and new development projects will be implemented as well.

Moreover, standard metal cutting and welding operations by various processes will be performed in several different plants: locksmith and welding plant, metal cutting plant, finishing, paint shop and sandblasting workshop, plant for assembly of parts.

300 workers will be employed, out of which 250 are qualified engineers and skilled workers of various professions, and 50 as auxiliary and administrative staff. The plant will employ 80 workers in one shift in the first phase.
