Lazar and Milosh Armored Combat Vehicles Deployed During NATO-Serbia Military Exercise

The Distinguished Visitors Day of the NATO-Serbia multinational tactical exercise was held today at the Borovac training ground near Bujanovac.

Approximately 600 members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the armed forces of Italy, Romania and Turkey participated in the exercise which was jointly organized by the Army Command and Joint Force Command Naples. The event was also attended by military planners and observers from Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Romania, United States of America, Serbia, Turkey, France and Montenegro.

 The exercise director, Deputy Commander of the Third Army Brigade, Colonel Branislav Stevanovic, pointed out that the concept of the exercise was tailored to units designated for participation in the peacekeeping missions and that the execution of these tasks required high degree of training and readiness.

 Today, the exercise participants demonstrated procedures for responding to an attack on a checkpoint, conducting medical evacuation, establishing a cordon and searching an area, carrying out reconnaissance operations, engaging in an urban combat, and executing a helicopter air assault. Throughout the military exercise, the Lazar multi-purpose armoured combat vehicles and Milosh armored combat vehicles played a particularly prominent role in combat operations against the enemy and in execution of various tactical maneouvers, proving highly effective in the execution of the demonstrated operations. 

NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General, Kevin Hamilton stated that the exercise was an impressive demonstration of joint work between the Serbian Armed Forces and their partners. 

The exercise was conducted in accordance with a conclusion of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and represents a continuation of cooperation between Serbia and NATO within the Partnership for Peace program, on an equal footing and with full respect for our military neutrality, for the purpose of preserving peace and stability in the region, improving operational capabilities of armed forces and strengthening the trust and mutual understanding.
