Automatic Grenade Launchers (ABG) developed by Serbian defence industry have been found to be the most effective combat support weapon. By virtue of its light weight, high rate of fire, mounting capability on various vehicles, crest- clearance trajectory, etc., ABG is extensively used for a close quarter battle. ABG can be used in both direct and indirect fire modes in plains and in hilly terrains, respectively. In the present war scenario, where the armies are equipped with sophisticated and effective communication, identification and surveillance systems, ABG provide organic fire support at company level by virtue of their quick response to direct fire power on enemy threat, immediately after the threat is identified.
Basic purposes of ABG is engagement of covered and non-covered targets at distances up to 1700 m and neutralizing light armored vehicles at distances up to 1000 m.
